Gemma Avery (Remote Coaching)
“Previously, I’ve felt the need to prove my worth by showing my progress or have been asked for it, so a PT can post a transformation picture/post.
I've been told to track my weight, measurements etc. weekly, and then had weekends when I've thought “I really need to see a loss this week so can't enjoy any carbs with my meal tonight”, or even moved seeing friends etc. based on “Weigh in day”.
Noise again.
At a weekend, I just want to switch off and relax – not think about what I'm doing affecting my bloody results when I step on a scale.
So I think what I'm trying to say is that simplicity, slowly done is the answer for me. And probably for most others. The noise comes from over-complication and feeling rushed and pressured to achieve 'x' (usually for someone else or for validation from others).
What I've realised in the past 15 months we've been working together, is that the noise is not needed to progress and that the noise is so damaging to my mental health.
You've taken it out of my hands in many ways (by checking in and creating a lovely session 4 times a week) so I don't even think about it now.
I work so hard and care really hard for the people around me, that it's almost like punishing myself in the past with all the noise, rather now, how I view health is like a treat to myself and my own little happy place.
I love the way wholesome, tasty food makes me feel and I bloody love this style of training. I love our aero sessions too, where I get to move at a good pace/level but I never feel absolutely shattered from training.
Even if work/life is making me feel pretty tired, I've always got enough in the tank to get some movement in as I know it's not a marathon every time.”
